I went back to 50Hz because it's what I'm used to, but I have to say this: Anyone who says 50 Hz is easier - try it and then tell me it's easier when you're audibly praying to some god - any god - that your next drift will go the right way... "Please please please please please please please"... 50 Hz does not like MTs.

Finally got that preferred route to work. Just used Toad's Kart instead of BT. This is what happened as a result: --

Heh... yeah. Website told me to use Toad's Kart, so I did, and the result was 11 seconds off my previous record (which I was BATTLING to beat - meanwhile I've come in with my wrist sprained and knocked off eleven seconds without even trying...) --

Well, I've sprained my wrist, my sister's got appendicitis and has been told to "relax" (and is therefore using the nintendo AV cable to play N64), and I'm studying for exams (or ought to be)... so yeah I haven't got much in the way of new records. I've got a feeling there's something very zen about this game, very dao - do without doing, try without trying.

I think there's something about this game where trying really hard is not the secret to doing well. Somehow, the biggest and most important leaps I've made playing time trials I've made when I haven't been trying too hard.

I am relatively new to this game, obviously, and so the secret of harnessing the power of not trying too hard - perhaps a certain laissez-faire attitude, or perhaps laissez-etre, laissez-rester attitude will be the secret to moving up in ranks now that I have reached what seems to me to be a plateau of my abilities.

I have to say the hardest levels in this game, in my opinion, are the first four.

No matter how hard I try (though perhaps I am trying too hard) I can't break my records for these four. Except baby park.

OK, I find the idea of knocking off a PR when I can't even see straight amusing (not that I've had too much wine - the slight blurring of vision is due to the attempted "study period" and subsequent three hour Physics exam).

Luckily, this game doesn't award the people who drive in a straight line :)

Ahh the mysteries of MKDD. Why can I kill my previous record (notice the more than 2 second difference?) after a few glasses of wine when I've been battling to break it sober for the past week?
