My records are the result of 3 days of playing, most of which was spent on
completing missions and winning all possible GP gold cups. None of those
times are time trial first tries in a literal sense, but a few are first or
second 3-lap completion, and I did not really start to bother about F-lap
strategies yet. Finally, all times are driven with Yoshi's Egg, except both
RR and RCI2 PR's, and RSG 3-lap.

The two courses I played most, DH and RMB, left me with a very bitter
aftertaste. Hopefully I can improve more on them, or then just forget and
move on to other, weaker, tracks.

Nice little story behind the F8C 3-lap, one that I'm convinced everyone will
take the time to read before scrolling through the other 80 daily PR
submissions: I was really going for a sub 1'24 when I started to play, but
met great disappointment with missed SSMT's that occured all over the place.
At one point, I completed a 1'24"7 race (less than 0"1 behind my then-PR)
that contained... 8 (I counted them) missed SSMT's! I thought it was either
my joypad lacking sensitivity, or my hand movement lacking precision. After
further tries, the last one of which was my new PR, I figured that the
latter choice had had to account for at least a reasonable part... :-)
Indeed, by taking greater care in the right and left steering moves that I
did, I completed this PR-race which showed to be in blatant contrast with
all those that had preceeded. I can't tell for sure whether the race
contained a single missed MT, but I do know that the only major mistake that
I did was saved by good mushroom use. To me, this PR is the best I have
achieved so far, but it might not actually show, due to three possible
factors: 1) everyone has good times on this course anyway 2) Yoshi and his
egg are not an optimal combination for fastest F8C times 3) I don't know how
to chain my SSMT's properly (the famous cursed word within the MK
community... ;-))

I would say I'm fairly satisfied of this day of karting, as many of these
PR's are within or near the top 20. BP F-lap was giving me a lot of
problems. There was no way I could get anything decent with one of the
heavyweight karts, despite the availability of 3 shrooms. At the end, I just
went for it on lap 2-5 with egg1, yielding my first 8"7's (and the F-lap
record) in the process.

The F8C 3-lap, like my previous one, was I must say quite unexpected. I
recorded the race (in replay mode) twice with my brother's digital camera,
once displaying the bottom screen, and the other time the upper screen. The
visual quality is not extremely neat, but if anyone is interested, I just
uploaded both vids (in .mov format) in the web space that SMK player Chris
Balch is kindly providing me with. :-)

I played hours to get a 2nd ranked 3-lap time on CCB. I would have prefered
a 1'32 quite frankly, but at the end I was just fed up. :-) My fastest

on my bed, before I would eventually turn off the lights...

The beginning of the last lap was very messy, with wide chaining of MT's and
one missed MT, but I "recovered" quite well around the end. I could be
playing for another hour and have a fairly good chance of getting faster
still, but I feel it is wiser to just rest for now. :-) New best splits are
24347-25609-25609=1'15"5.

Well, I was very surprised to find that my DH time was faster than the WR,
even if by very little (0"03). When I realized this, I started playing the
course again in an attempt to push it lower, but I was gradually getting too
tired to do good things for long enough, despite a few close calls during
the first half hour (including 24421-25885-crash on the 2nd to last corner).
My best splits are now 24382-25697-25697 (nearly one second faster than my
current PR), but I think Fried and I use a different shrooming strategy, at
least judging from the strat he wrote on the MB one month ago (I use my
mushroom over the only hill that's on the right side of the track, to land
smoothly on the road, just before the last corner, around which I MT). I
don't know if I'll try again tomorrow, or even soon, however I know that I
can, with reasonable comfort, get a 3-lap that is some tenths faster than
what I have now.

I'm fairly satisfied with most of these PR's. I got good results on YF by
switching to rob-bls, the F-lap being also achieved with it. The other track
where I switched kart is DP1. It will have taken me weeks actually, but I
finally figured out which kart "Dry Bomber" was supposed to be (as my
version of the game is in French). I can already imagine how helpful this
kart should be on MC, LC2, and especially SG...
