You'll never guess where... MB 3-lap! It was one of my worst times! But
finally I'm not screwing up as much as I used to. Especially on the start of
the 3rd lap, where I always tried to squeeze through the left side of that
red car. So many times I either hit the car, or came to a dead stop against
the left wall. So I decided to go around it; it felt like a 'consession'.
But not anymore after soon beating my fresh PR, a 0"1 improvement, with
another 0"3!
In contrast, LC is not going well. I feel like I'm up to my max, as my best
splits give me something like 1'18"05x. I still don't know what's making me
this terrible here. It was so depressing to see that my new PR doesn't even
gain me a single spot.

Just a few hours ago I stated here:
"In contrast, LC is not going well. I feel like I'm up to my max, as my best

this terrible here."

I felt like I would never break HD, 1'18, but just now I've beaten it three
times! It's that big curve. I've known it all along. It was just this week
that I found out that you can take it tightly by pressing <-- directly after
your MT. Before I did five short MTs, now I have 4 MTs spaced out. It didn't
gain me much... until now. I've learned to stick very close to the sand the
whole turn. And it pays off! Woohoo!

It all started when I drove a 26"4xx 1st lap. I was like wtf? Usually I have
trouble getting a 26"5xx. Later, I started with a decent 1st lap and a
disappointing 2nd lap. Why didn't I stop and restart? Anyway, I drove it out
and was astonished by seeing 1'17"9xx flashing on the screen. My last lap
was 25"5xx! Wtf? I couldn't remember ever driving a 25"6xx, and now
25"5xx??? Not long after that came two more consistent runs, both yet even
better.

Before my LC victory, I also finally got DKM 3-lap HD. It was in the air a
long time already, but just now I drove a race without any serious flaws. I
beat the standard by more than 0"2! Ha!
O yeah, and HC on WS 3-lap. Seems like no big deal today...

And, of course, HC overall!

techniques on DKM, and finally it's paid off. I can get a way better time

I once held the world's 5th best time in Mushroom City (it was way
early) and now here I am struggling to reach Expert level.

Here are my 3-lap times from Mushroom Cup

I've got a long way to go. I miss my lines, I slide all over the
place (Hit a Pinta, sadly) and can't hit MT's like a
horribly 80% accuracy rate.

Advice for average players: DO NOT use the techniques from the WR
videos. They're too difficult to do. I hope that Pinta's okay.

Yesterday night, I dreamed that I beat the BP WR's by figuring out that
shrooming on straights was faster...

I missed my first Titan time by very little there, and not only once. My top
5 now looks like this: 2'03"01-2'03"03-2'03"06-2'03"09-2'03"13. I also had a
race in which the kart stupidly decided to right-powerslide instead of
left-powerslide on the last jump of the final lap. I completed the race with
a time of 2'03"3 in spite of this enormous mistake and the missed MT's that
came along with it. Today was actually the first time that I attempted to
brake while steering along the long spiral and around that sharp right
corner. Had I known you do not need extreme precision to get it working
every time, I guess I would have tried earlier. For now, my main problem
rather seems to lie in the transition between the spiral, the mushroom, and
the tight left corner that follows. It was not troublesome at first, but
during the last one or two hours of playing, I always seemed to be losing
time there, or... maybe it was somewhere else, or everywhere.

On SL, I never got close to my f-lap PR. All my attempts were like 0"2
slower... except one. That wasn't close to my PR either: almost 0"2 faster!
Had a bit of luck with the shrooms :-)
