Subject: Baby Park and Murphy's Law

Murphy's law: the better the run, the worse the last lap. Now that goes for
any course, but BP in particular. Not only because it's 7 laps, but also
because it's the most elementary course, and therefore, because of Murphy's
law, one of the most difficult (for me anyway).
I can manage two straight MT's on each stretch now. With that, I've driven
more low 9"4 laps than usual, and even a 9"39! There's a drawback though: I
don't have absolute control yet, so I'm quite inconsistent. And when I do
manage 6 reasonable laps, yes, there is still lap 7...
Good laps for me are 9"95 - 9"45(x5) - 8"80 = 1'06"00. I knew I should be
able to get 1'05"xxx.
For example, I got 1'06"03, thanks to a great last lap of 8"73, but
naturaly, one of my laps was 9"57 :-(. Then finally, I got into a sort of
groove, with more or less constant driving. As I crossed the finishline, and
heard that much appreciated tune, I was almost afraid to see if I beat 1'06.
I did! If I remember correctly, a got a 9"41 :-) a 9"50 :-/ and a last lap
of 8"74 :-). So that makes one HB left, on LC, another "elementary" course.
F-lap was funny. I've been trying that for a few days now. Usually, when I
got a good time, it came by surprise. This time, I got a good first turn,
and after a good second one, I knew it was going to be a record. Previously
I had thoughts like "This must be a good time!", usually resulting in a
8"8xx or something, but this was different. I just knew. And it was! I
watched in replay, and I saw how I only slightly bumped both bends. Perfect!

Wow, quite a story this is. I'm turning Yahoogroups into my weblog! :-D

yep.. sadly this is the first time I PR'ed twice in the same night for
at least two months.

on the other hand I PR'ed about 150 times in mkds.. so that's not bad
I guess.. first day I played it more than half an hour.. got a full
set of times while being at work and then made about 20 PR's/hour that
night...

Being a Noob again is awesome! I never thought I could beat a FLAP by
2 secs the first lap using my shroom(s) and then beat it again on lap
3 by another whole sec no shroom..

I bet you didn't read all that ;)

I pr'ed on LC! Now that's a miracle in itself, but not only that: I beat my
old PR four times! And not only that, I got HB, too!
It was only yesterday when I got rid of the other remaining HB, on BP. Again
today, I owe it to SMT's. I had been trying them on LC for a while, but just
now I got it to work in my favor. I guess I was intimidated by how far left
Rapha\ufffdl goes after the second booster. After seeing both Marius' and Bo's
vid, I stayed more to the right, and with success!
First I got 1'17"34, with two amazing laps: 25"34 and 25"84! What a shame I
got those laps after a 1st lap of 26"14(!) :-( A little while later, I beat
it with a thousandth thanks to a 1st lap of 25"89 and a last lap of
25"81(!), but the 2nd lap was 25"63 :-(.
It turned out to be very difficult for me to get aligned properly after
three SMT's, so that I could do 2 R's along the bend on the right. Finally I
managed three decent laps. Even though in the last lap, I screwed up the
sharp bend before the finish, it was still a good time.
Splits: 25"90 - 25"38 - 25"88
F-lap still stands, in spite of several attempts resulting in 25"0xx. Maybe
tomorrow.
