mcr and yc will most definitely come down really soon. i'm determined
when it comes to ddj to finish with a better time. my splits would put
me about exp b but something always happens. the time i have submitted
now got shot up by water if i remember correctly.

Hey guys -- Alex Moon, PAL 50 Hz -- MB: (3lap) 1:27:935

So, I've finally knocked off my MB Adv D (only three more left).

I was hoping I could be top-300 by the end of this week but it looks like I've hit another plateau again (which is rather frustrating). As such, it looks like I won't get back up to speed for a week or two, and as such I'm using this time to investigate the effects of releasing the accelerator (before a drift, during a drift, after a drift, between two drifts, etc.) - ever since I was clued into the idea of the New MT Technique and started trying things with the accelerator, I've realised that the paradigm I've had of MTing vs Line can be dramatically changed. I've realised for a while now that one of the most important things to balance properly in this game was the use of MTs and what I call the Line (the shortest route that would allow me to most efficiently complete the course, in other words). Line is important, and is, of course, affected by the fact that MTing requires the Kart to turn through some sort of curve, as well as the fact that, previously, I took it for granted that the direction of orientation (of the kart) directly determined the direction of movement.

Now I've discovered that, in fact, through releasing the gas at strategic times, it is possible (and in fact quite easy) to make the kart go sideways - in other words, the direction of movement can be perpendicular to the direction of orientation! This changes my paradigm of Line in a very subtle but fundamental way.

This will, of course, through practice, become an essential part of the improvement of my times. For now, I'm still getting used to the various facets of the technique, but just give it a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, I'm trying to get rid of the last of my Adv Ds, and practice.

So anyway, thanks guys - there's fun to be had with this game yet!

Love Alex

It's funny - I know that technically I should be able to get PRs that are a lot better than the ones I've got, and it's just that I'm not having clean runs (i.e. something always goes wrong - I'll run over some grass or I'll jam up against a wall or I'll take a turn slightly too wide or whatever). Oh well.

Anyway yeah feels good to get my Luigi Circuit time down a bit. And that Mushroom Bridge one. I'm starting to get a feel for the New MT Techniques, which is good - I've had some nice moments.

Anyway thanks guys.
